There’s a common scenario that regularly occurs with regard to websites. Let us know if this sounds familiar.
Company A decides it’s time for a new website. It could be new design is needed, it could be that a marketing team has sold you on any number of reasons for why you should replace your existing website.
Whichever the reason, the marketing person or team at Company A starts researching website development firms to assist with this endeavor. They might seek recommendations from their colleagues, gather proposals and quotes. A vendor is selected. The project proceeds.
The vast majority of the time what follows next is a project that takes longer than expected, and disappointment. We know. Because we’ve worked with countless clients who have brought this scenario to us.
We’re interested in a better experience for clients. We’ve identified the common cause of this frustration. Typically a skilled project manager, versed in the web development process, is missing from the team.
Company A doesn’t know how to create content for the web, they thought the company they hired would do it. The company they hired specializes in web design and development, but rarely in content marketing and information architecture. We should note there ARE companies that deliver the full package. But for clients in our markets it’s all too often that they don’t connect with these companies. Cost is another barrier.
